Yamenah has been part of Prof. Dobrucki’s Experimental Molecular Imaging Lab (EMIL) since May 2019. Her current project aims to develop a preclinical Type 2 diabetic animal model with peripheral artery disease (PAD) to monitor the condition with the hope of finding the most effective therapy using multimodality imaging.

Prior to being part of EMIL, Yamenah was an undergraduate researcher in the Timperman Research Group at the Grainger College of Engineering. She investigated the effectiveness of various membranes and mechanism for water filtration using ion concentration polarization.

She has also been engaged in various outreach in the community. Yamenah has volunteered at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Carle Foundation Hospital, and the Avicenna Community Health Center. She is also a member of the Engineering Outreach Society and volunteers at a local elementary school to teach children about STEM fields.

She wishes to pursue an MD-PhD so she can work in translational medicine and work in the intersection
of medicine and research to help build the bridge between preclinical and clinical research.

Yamenah loves gardening and watching Star Trek. She is fluent in both Spanish and Urdu.
