Senior in Bioengineering with a Minor in Chemistry
Intends to pursue Ph.D in Bioengineering
Alexa is a well-rounded student with a variety of educational and leadership experiences. She has been consistently on the Dean’s List, an active member of the Biomedical Engineering Society, and Vice President of Academic Excellence for the Kappa Kappa Gamma International Fraternity. Alexa also worked at Abbott in the UIUC Research Park as a corporate engineering quality intern and electrophysiology quality systems intern. Her fascination for drug delivery has led her to therapeutic research. Alexa’s goal is to discover effective methods of delivering therapeutics to patients using novel technologies. The work she does in the Sirk Lab has expanded her knowledge in engineering beneficial traits into symbiotic microbes to address problems in human health. She is excited to continue research in this area for graduate school and hopes to become an expert in the biomedical engineering industry.
